Re: True Blood
Yep trying to get into this (not just cos anna paquin gets her norks out at some point). Seems well acted and scripted. Where did they get the name Sooki from? Big fan of the vampire genre (buffy still rocks).
Still, should really get faith up there to kick their collective asses and stop that dollhouse nonsense

Re: True Blood
Terrible sub poppy z bright vampire toss. Sucki stackhouse is the main character, and she's annoyingly naive. Also thought a lot of the character were massive stereotypes. Seen the whole series too. - gonna watch near dark again - much better IMHO.

That's what the missus described it as when she's been trying to persuade me that it's the sort of thing I'd like.
Maybe I should stop wearing the cape to bed?

Re: True Blood
I've been watching it - really didn't like the turn it took recently with the grandmother
yes it is soft- core in some manner of speaking
Lafayette does remind me of lots of men I worked with in various restaurants in the quarter - gay black man takes no shit pretty much a stereotype - not nearly as feisty as this pre-op transexual who was my boss in one nightclub- but there you go I've lived a colourful life
Poppy Z Brite is crap
The Hubb and I have been watching it since it first aired on FX will stick with too - it's by the guy who put out 6 feet under so it can't be that bad

Re: True Blood
oooh I like a bit of early poppy z brite, not the more recent stuff like exquisite corpse - that was dreadful. My fact to add is that the main vamp was in a great british vampire series alled ultraviolet. I loved that series.

Re: True Blood
I was watching True Blood after my folks Sky + it the other day. Thought it took a long time getting into and not a lot actually happens, sort of a hillbilly version of Coronation Street but with soft porn. Anyway she decided to record the Tudor's and that messed up the recording and i missed half an episode, since then i really can't be arsed with it.

Re: True Blood
yeah me too - I had to get it from America, how crap is that a british series that you could only get in the U.S. Jack from ultraviolet is the main vampire in true blood

I just found Poppy Z Brite a little dull and well after reading the erotica based vampire novels of Anne Rice - I went back to reading horror like Lumley or sexually repressed Lovecraft before permanently get lost in both Robert Anton Wilson books and of course the dystopian sphere of Philip K. Dick
The Hubb won't let me watch Ultraviolet - he said it was crap - so I have no opinion on it - maybe when Itv4 reruns it again I'll check it out.
as for hillbillies meets Coronation Street - in the states - only saw Coronation Street a couple of times a friends mum watched it and I swear someone died in it - this would be proper 70's Coronation
for the record they do not have hillbillies in Louisiana (that would Arkansas and Missouri and the Virginias) - they aren't rednecks (everywhere else) no... they are called "coon asses" and they have a tendency to "talkalikadat" (imagine instead of shoe they say chue) and have names like Boudreaux and use their pirogue (canoe) to paddle through the marsh to catch nutria - think big giant rat from South America - there is one guy on True Blood that in all likelihood is actually genuinely a coon ass - one of the brothers friends

It used to be available over here, as my copy is a UK one. Not much in the way of extras, but I didn't buy it for that.
Was about 7 years ago though.
